Greg Long launched his vocal recording career with Myrrh Records, debuting Cross My Heart in 1994 and Jesus Saves in 1998. God decided to keep it in the family when He intersected Greg's path with that of Avalon vocalist Janna Long. Marrying in 2000, the couple continued separate career paths. However, after eight number one singles, six top 10 hits, an ASCAP Award, and two Dove Award nominations, the opportunity arose to fill in for departing Avalon member Michael Passons. With his label's approval and God's confirmation, Greg joined AVALON in 2003. In 2004, Greg released Born Again, his fifth solo project.
Janna Long began her singing career with the Christian ensemble TRUTH. Following that she joined the Virginia-based group, Mission, touring China, Hong Kong, the Bahamas, Russia and Israel. In 1996, Janna reconnected with Jody McBrayer (her fellow TRUTH mate) and with the help of Grant Cunningham at Sparrow/EMI, AVALON was born. Through 7 studio recordings, 20 #1 singles, world tours and much change, Janna's powerful voice and encouraging presence have been part of the glue that's held the group together. In 1997, AVALON joined the "Young Messiah" tour during which Janna met future husband Greg Long. In 2002, Janna released her debut solo project, Janna, which met with critical acclaim.
Jody McBrayer got his professional start performing for two years with the vocal group TRUTH, before moving to California to work in the casting department at Disney Studios. Six years later, Jody moved to Nashville and began seeking God for new direction and new opportunities to follow his dream into music: Within a matter of months, AVALON was born, launching a journey that included seven studio recordings and 20 No. 1's. His solo recording project is aptly titled, This Is Who I Am.
Melissa Greene also began her musical career with the Christian vocal ensemble, TRUTH, singing and traveling with the group for two years. In 2002, Melissa debuted Then And There, her first independent, solo release. But God has a way of shaking things up and in 2002 Melissa added her talent to AVALON.
